Kawsay Munana is an Ancestral Medicine center linked to indigenous communities of the jungle. if your interest is to know the culture. way of life and worldview of the Amazonian tribes of Ecuador. We have different tours to the Yaku Runa Ancestral community. 

You have two options to choose these tours to the communities, it can be after finishing a retreat with us in the Kawsay Munana center or you can choose only the tour to the Yaku Runa community.

In both options is included transportation: round trip from the Retreat Center to Yaku Runa and return to the center.

ECOLOGICAL COMMUNITY "YAKU RUNE"

The Cultural Ecological Community "Yaku Runa", has as its mission; strengthen and apply knowledge, identity and cultural worldview, developing community tourism. Preserving the environment of the jungle and its ancestral territory, integrating all the members of the four nationalities (Shuar, Achuar, Kichwa, Sapara). 

The name Yaku Runa comes from the Kichwa word meaning "Water Man". Being a mystical character, the community is also made up of four cultures, Kichwa, Shuar, Achuar, Sapara: who have managed to integrate with each other, in such a way that they live together respecting the philosophies and ancestral worldview of each nationality, with a population of more than 120 inhabitants among children, young people and adults. It is located on the banks of the Pastaza River that borders the province of Morona Santiago, the community has a territorial space of 150 hectares with a great diversity of flora: such as bamboo, cedar, intachi, pambil, morete, medicinal and ornamental plants and fauna: such as armadillo, guanta, guatusa, orioles, deer, chichicos, birds, insects, amphibians, reptiles and peccaries among others.

In addition, we practice craft activities with ceramic materials, seeds of the jungle, carved in rustic wood with designs inspired by Mother Nature, one of the main activities is the use of natural medicine typical of the sector. The gastronomy of the area is characterized by being organic and healthy for consumption.

The community is dedicated to cultivating the farm with different products among which can be mentioned: cassava, banana, sweet potato, banana, Chinese potato, peanuts, cane, papaya, pineapple, pumpkin among others, which serves for family consumption and in smaller quantity for local trade.

 We are characterized by dedication to work, responsibility with the environment, we practice solidarity and social justice, we practice and promote sumak Kawsay.

Recognition of medicinal, forest, medicinal plants and observation of flora and fauna.

Collection of medicinal plants 

Preparation of the ancient drink of the indigenous communities consists of peeling, cooking, crushing and chewing the yucca.

A rest in the hammocks and meditate in order to have a better connection in the ritual.
